Good Bye September and Hello October! We had a great week! This week was tons of fun with this week's spirit days. We had a blast dressing up and bringing our stuffed animals in. We raised $35.50 in our class alone! Way to go! October is a big month. There is lots of things happening. I will be letting you know what is happening on the blog. So stay tuned! There will be new a calendar with lots of dates on it and a new homework packet on Monday in the folders.
Thank you to Ethan's mom, who was our mystery reader this week!
Thank you to Ben's mom for coming to Literacy Centers and helping out!
You can come and volunteer too! Check out the parent website tab at the top of the blog! Choose either Mystery Reader, Math Center Volunteer or Literacy Center Volunteer! The kids love love love having parents come visit!!
Thanks to all the parents who brought your child to Yogo-Ono. Our class tied for first! At the school wide morning meeting today, the teachers had a "dance off" to see who would win the trophy. The other teacher won, but it was fun!
We received a letter D for our letter exchange from Lompoc, California. So fun!
The new sight words for the week are:

We are doing really well on the tests on Friday. Keep up the great work. Some of the ways we practice the sight words in class are: stamping the words, finding them in books, making them in magnetic letters, writing them on the smart board and talking about them. These are some ways you can practice the words at home as well. I don't want the words to be a flash card drill, so I make it fun. We want learning sight words to be fun!
Academic Update:
Literacy: We learned the letter D and have been doing great with our sight words. We are now really using them in our writing. Review the previous letters T,F,B,M,C,A,I,R,O and G. Keep reading as much as you can at home.
Math: We have finished up our chapter on patterns. We will start our next chapter on Monday.
Science: We are finished talking about rocks and soils.
Have a great weekend! Roll Tide!
