We had such a great week! Sometimes, laughter is the best medicine - and we do a ton of laughing in our class!! We also do a ton of singing and dancing. I'm sure your child has come home singing a color song, the number rock song or maybe the days of the week rap. Either way- we are having a blast!
We had our first Mystery Reader this week! Thanks so much to Ravin's mom for coming and reading to our class! She also gave each student a book! So sweet!! Thanks again!
Don't forget- you can go and sign up to volunteer to help out in Math Centers or Literacy Centers. The sign up is right on this blog! Check out the Parent Website tab at the top!
We received another letter from our letter exchange. It came from Orlando, FL. The letter was the letter K. So fun!
If your child wears a dress or skirt, PLEASE make sure they are wearing shorts under them. We are still learning how to be a little ladies when wearing them. We spend a lot of time on the floor, so this is very important.
Please save the date: SEPT. 23, 3:30-8:30p.m. This is our school's YOGO-ONO night. My class won twice last year for class participation and I would hopefully like to carry on that tradition. YOGO-ONO is a yogurt shop on Chastain Road. All proceeds go back to our school. The class with the most class participation wins the knight trophy. It's a big deal. I will be there. SEE YOU THERE!!
Milk is now 30 cents. Please take note.
Spelling Assessments*
*List A & 1 sight WORDS; help your child learn how to read these words. Read them a story and see how many sight words can they find in the story.
*Please help make learning these words fun for your child. You can also make flash cards and have them learn to read the words 5 at a time until they can read the whole list. Allow them to find their sight words in a book or newspaper. These words are not to be drilled but make the learning fun. Thanks for your help.
*We will start calling them up to read them to us next week. Allow them to read the list to you at home for practice. They must read the entire list to go into the treasure box. One treasure for each complete list read.
*We will have our next spelling test Friday, September 23, 2011. After they learn the words give them a practice spelling test at home. Number a piece of paper 1-5, then call the words out to them one at a time and have them write them next to the number. Thank you in Advance for your support!
