Estes Extras...

April showers bring May flowers... May is here! I can't believe it. We had a great week. We are so excited about going to the zoo next week. All week we talked about zoo animals. Next week is a BIG week. We have our Zoo field trip on Wednesday. On Friday, we have field day. I will send the t-shirts home on Monday. The kids need to wear the class shirts for the zoo field trip and field day. The shirts are so cute. Please bring $2.50 for the t-shirt on Monday, if you have not sent it in.

International Day is at the school on Saturday, April 30th. PTO is putting on this grand affair. Please try to come if you can.

A special thank you to Victor's mom who donated Baccugons to my class' school store. They cost a whopping 15 cents. I  think we had about who five students come home with one today. It takes a while to earn that much! The school store is great behavior system. They can earn and lose money based on their behavior.

Specials next week: Monday: P.E., Tuesday: Spanish, Wednesday: Art, Thursday: P.E., Friday: Media
Library Books are due on Thursday.

Elianna celebrated a birthday this week! Happy Birthday!

Academic Update:

Literacy: We started a new unit called a world of animals. We talked a lot about animals this week and learned a lot of really great facts about elephants, giraffes and monkeys. In writing this week, we started learning about dictating sentences. I would read a sentence to them. They would write it using capital letter at the beginning, all lower case letters in the middle, spaces between my words and a period at the end. I am using simple sight words in my sentences. Please practice this at home. The main thing is making sure we all use lower case letters in the sentence and spaces between my words.

Math: We finished the addition chapter today. Next week, we will start the subtraction chapter. Start working on subtraction but keep working on addition for added practice.

I'm glad the tornadoes didn't hit here, however I was deeply heartbroken this week. I spent four years in Tuscaloosa going to University of Alabama. Half of my college town was demolished. Please keep Alabama and all the towns in Georgia in your prayers.

Have a great weekend. :)
