10.23.11

We had a great week. We have been getting in the fall mood... reading books about fall and pumpkins and we learned the stages of how a pumpkin a grows. Next week is a BIG week.
  • Early Release Days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. School releases at 12:30. No need to bring a snack. We will not be eating snack. Please DO pack a lunch, we have lunch at the same time.
  • Monday is the 50th day of school! Yay! You can dress up! Boys can wear jeans and white t-shirts. Girls can wear poodle skirts. If you do not dress up, you MUST be in FULL UNIFORM.
  • Conferences are this week as well. See you at your scheduled time.
We had two birthdays this week, Ravin and Connor. Happy Birthday!
Thank you to Adelaide's mom for coming to Math Centers and volunteering.
Thank you to Grayson and Ravin's moms for being our mystery readers this week.

I sent home a field trip form this week. We are so excited about going to the Georgia Aquarium on November 15th. We are looking for 2 more parent volunteers on this trip. Let me know if you are interested.

At our conference, I will also be asking you to sign another field trip form. 12 teachers and their class got picked out of a hat to go visit the site of the new our new school. My name was picked!!! We will be going November 1st. It's free and we will be at the site of the school, for about an hour. I was so excited! I haven't told the kids yet. I'm telling them on Monday. They will be so thrilled!!

Continue working on the pumpkin book character project. The project is due Monday, October 31st. E-mail me if you have any questions about it. Don't forget, you have to have a book to bring in to sit next to your project.

Our spelling words this week are: learning the "at" family.
cat
mat
bat
sat
rat

Academic Update:
Literacy: We did lots of fall literacy activities this week. We also learned the letter P this week. Keep reading and working on sight words.
Math: We are in the middle of chapter 4. We are learning our numbers up to 10, writing them correctly and still using the words more and fewer.
Social Studies: We are talking about where are we, on a map. Please continue to help them work on their address. Knowing that we live in Cobb county, the state of Georgia and the United States of America,  is a standard.

Have a great rest of the weekend! :)
